  1. Dear Customer !

  3. Here is some important information you need to know 
  4. to install Cubase properly. Before you start you have
  5. to decide whether you want to use the MIDI drivers
  6. which come with Windows 3.1 and/or from the vendor of
  7. your MIDI interface or alternatively the drivers which 
  8. come with Cubase.
  9.  
  10. 1) Using Cubase with MME drivers
  11. In this case you have to run the MIDI Setup program which
  12. comes with Cubase and activate Multimedia MIDI. Please
  13. disable all other interfaces. You should then use the Control
  14. Panel, found in the Main Group, for setting up drivers which 
  15. are a part of Windows. Here you have to install the MIDI 
  16. driver according to the instructions which come with your 
  17. MIDI interface.

  19. 2) Using Cubase with it own drivers
  20. In this case you should run the MIDI setup and activate 
  21. the driver for your interface. If you select the interface
  22. option you will see some optional fields which have to be
  23. filled according to the instructions of your MIDI interface.
  24. Please make sure that all other drivers are disabled. 
  25. After quitting the program with OK you should start the 
  26. Window`s Control Panel for setting up drivers and make sure
  27. that there is no driver installed which talks to the same
  28. interface as Cubase. This can lead to strange behaviour and 
  29. you should therefore remove the relevant driver.

  31. Cubase needs the Windows Timer driver in order to run.
  32. Please make sure that the Timer driver is installed in Windows.
  33. It can be found in the driver Control Panel in Windows.

  35. Additional Information:
  36. Commonly in PC compatible computers certain IRQ and Base 
  37. Addresses may be used internally for the Monitor and Printer
  38. Port. If you have a situation where the Set Up program 
  39. and the physical setting on the card match but nothing works, 
  40. try another IRQ and Base Address pair.

  42. If you get the situation where Cubase can transmit data 
  43. out of your interface but fails to see any MIDI input, 
  44. you have almost certainly got the Base Address correct 
  45. but the IRQ wrong.
